An accomplished lawyer, Karl Ashanti brings more than two decades of experience to his work as an attorney in New York City. He recently served as the senior counsel for the Office of the Corporation Counsel, a role in which he worked on cases related to civil and constitutional rights. During his time in this position, Karl Ashanti participated in multiple federal jury trials while handling other legal duties such as taking depositions, compiling legal research, and negotiating settlements.

Karl Ashanti earned a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Stanford University before going on to complete his JD at the Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as the notes editor for the Georgetown International Environmental Law Review. Prior to his work in the Office of the Corporation Counsel, he held litigation attorney positions with firms such as Sullivan Papain Block McGrath & Cannavo, LLP, and Stewart Occhipinti & Makow, LLP.

Karl Ashanti holds bar admissions in New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice in the Southern District and the Eastern District of New York and the District of New Jersey. Outside of his professional life, he pursues a diverse range of hobbies that includes reading, traveling, and weightlifting.
